THE OLD GREEN VASE

The old green has passed through many hands
And after all this time it still stands
This vase is not used for holding flowers
But by students amassing another three hours.

Serving in speech class as a major award
Somehow it endures by the grace of the Lord
Through many sweaty hands it has been passed
How much longer will the green vase last?

How is it that it has never been broken
With the presentations that have been spoken?
God must have blessed the old green vase
It has endured with such style and grace.

In the beginning did Mr. Price know
That the old green vase would go and go?
Next semester the vase will appear once more
As new students come through the door.
