Thanks for opening your door to me as a kid
It was one of the many sweet things you did
You welcomed me into your home
And allowed me to laugh & play & roam.

He was a quiet man, never had much to say
But he would help you out in any way
Vaughn Mitchell spent his adult life
Loving his four children and his wife.

We are gathered here to honor one of God's own
Who recently left us to be near the Lord's throne
He was an inspiration to so many others
His friends & neighbors, sisters & brothers.

Watching from Heaven with a smile on his face
He's seeing first-hand God's amazing grace
I know as I look at the people he cherished
Vaughn Mitchell lives on, he never perished.
