Decisions that you made in the past
Can have effects that last and last
You can end up with a fatal disease
From sex that came with too much ease.

Choices of today can determine the future
Splits may occur that you can't suture
Don't be so eager for bridges to burn
Remember how quickly the tables can turn.

Be careful with the tenses of your life
Try to lessen your sorrow and strife
The past should provide us with lessons learned
And with friendships made and respect earned.

The present allows us to pick and choose
It's up to us to win or lose
The future can be dim or bright
